We work closely with students from Grades 9 through 12 on their college applications, empowering them to present themselves as strong candidates and future leaders ready to make an impact. Our approach combines a proven hands-on methodology with a personalized strategy tailored to each student's unique strengths and passions. By meticulously uncovering and nurturing each individual's potential, we provide targeted support that enhances their growth opportunities and helps them stand out in the college admissions process and beyond.
In our Planning Module, we get to know our students, make a comprehensive long-term plan to help them achieve their goals, and support them through every step of the process.
Grade 9 (Explore)
We help G9 students explore the resources at their school to understand what they can achieve within their immediate school community. We validate their potential tracks by entering students into competitions and recommending that they join programs like service trips during school breaks to delve deeper into their chosen areas.
Grade 10 (Validate)
In G10, most students are able to confirm the academic track they’d like to pursue. The team moves on to implementing standardized test plans as well as initiating the Passion Project Incubation. These passion projects give students a leg up in getting into competitive summer programs.
Grade 11 (Lead)
G11 students are well-positioned to take on leadership roles in school. They also often upscale their passion projects to create a bigger impact. While they continue with their efforts, we kick-start the application tasks in April of G11. In the summer of G11, most of our students choose to gain real-world experiences through internships, field research, and in-depth community and service projects in parallel with selective summer programs.
In our Application Module, we leverage our extensive knowledge of every global education system to set students up for success in the application process. Applicants have access to their core FGE team of two senior strategists, one head coach, and one case manager, as well as additional experts, including former admission officers and youth mentors who are current students or alumni of top-tier US universities.
We provide personalized support and guidance and significantly aid in Academic Success Management (ASM). We help student to set clear, achievable academic goals and develop tailored strategies to reach them. Counsellors assist with time management and study skills, offering techniques to enhance learning efficiency and performance. We will provide resources and tools, such as tutoring services and academic workshops, to support student needs. Regularly monitoring progress, we offer feedback and adjust strategies as necessary. Counsellors also provide emotional support and motivation, helping students navigate academic challenges and maintain focus. Additionally, we offer academic advising to assist with course selection and future planning.
Foundation Youth Mentor Program officially launched its pilot phase 2 years ago. Nine current students from top U.S. universities, including Princeton, Cornell, Northwestern, and the University of Chicago, actively participated in the program.
Within just one year, they provided substantial academic support and extracurricular development guidance to over 30 high school students domestically and internationally. They shared strategies on winning student council elections, organizing TED talks, and selecting portfolio pieces. They discussed the latest university activities and the most interesting professors’ insights. This one-on-one, heart-to-heart mentorship, where mentors shared their experiences and success secrets, received high recognition from students and families.
By August 2023, after 14 months of continuous refinement and incubation, Youth Mentor Program expanded its faculty. It brought together students from prestigious universities like Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, and Caltech while innovating the course design. The program began to comprehensively offer consulting services to Foundation’s current students and outstanding American high school students, aiming to let more high schoolers experience the power and vitality of learning alongside top achievers.

We follow a 5:1 counseling model. Our team of experts can provide specialist strategies instead of generalist strategies, which is often the case in the 1:1 model. By working with a team of experts, our students receive guidance in all aspects, and we can cover all blind spots. We have thorough milestone checks for all students to ensure that the progress of the student’s applications remains on track. Our counselors often become mentors, friends, and older siblings of our students while playing a huge part in their educational journey.
Our team has worked with thousands of global students admitted to top-tier universities in the US and UK. They are deeply experienced educators and experts in private school and university admissions.

Application Journey
J is an exceptional student at our school, consistently achieving top academic honors while continually challenging herself. Beyond academics, she holds pivotal roles as a school tour guide, orchestra flute section leader, admissions office assistant, and grade-level leader, refining her leadership prowess. She also excels as a vital member of our school’s ice hockey and field hockey teams, actively engaging in diverse campus activities. Her adeptness in seamlessly transitioning between these roles prompts us to ponder: where lies the essence of being a “high-quality young woman”?
01. High-Quality Young Woman
J embarked on her journey in figure skating at the tender age of 4. Childhood for J meant icy rinks, rigorous training, and the pressures of coaching. Intrigued by the smooth ice and swift skates, she progressed from a simple hobby to intensive professional training, navigating moments of deep frustration. Despite vowing to quit due to the arduous training, returning to the school’s rink rekindled her joy and resilience. Reflecting on her experiences, she asserts, “It is these trials that have made me fearless in adversity.”
Moreover, figure skating unexpectedly enriched J’s life. While not highlighted in her application as a specialty, her evolution from passion to weariness and back underscored her unique journey on the ice. We strongly recommend she articulate this narrative in her essays and interviews, as it left a profound impact on admissions officers.
02. Close to Top US Boarding Schools, Perhaps Just a Stack of Photos Away
As J matured, her love for photography blossomed. Capturing architecture, landscapes, and the unnoticed facets of life, she found her voice through the lens. Her photographic achievements, including recognition in state-level competitions across the United States, underscore her talent.
J’s commitment extends beyond photography to community service, where she uses art to explore the world’s intricacies and unveil the beauty in overlooked moments. These endeavors reveal her sensitivity and enrich her profile with compelling humanistic narratives that resonate deeply with admissions officers.
03. Strong Inner Drive and Pioneering Spirit
In addition to her stellar academic and extracurricular record, J’s application highlights her unwavering drive and pioneering spirit. Guided by our support, she tackled the history essay competition, “The Concord Review,” delving into feminist studies with a depth surpassing her peers. As the sole middle school participant, she collaborated with high school and college students, navigating divergent perspectives to elevate her research prowess.
04. One Walks Fast, but a Group Walks Far
While US boarding schools emphasize team cohesion, J predominantly pursued individual projects. Recognizing the importance of teamwork, we advised her to immerse herself in school team activities to experience camaraderie and collective success. Leveraging her athletic prowess and solid foundation, J swiftly became a linchpin in the varsity ice hockey and field hockey teams, assuming leadership roles that fostered unity. Her affable nature seamlessly integrated her into the team, forging lasting bonds with her peers.

Susan’s Mother’s Sharing:
Early planning is crucial for navigating the complexities of applying to American universities and maximizing success. Without ample preparation, securing admission to top-tier institutions becomes daunting. Reflecting on my daughter’s experience applying to Penn, I often field inquiries from parents curious about the approach.
I stress the importance of long-term strategic planning. Regardless of consultancy quality, rushing preparations undermines outcomes. Achieving competitive standardized test scores, maintaining a strong GPA, and cultivating a robust extracurricular portfolio necessitate years of careful cultivation.
Crafting compelling application essays, which illuminate a student’s unique qualities and experiences, demands substantial foresight and refinement. Initiating preparations as early as 9th or 10th grade affords students the necessary time to develop academically and personally, ensuring they present their best selves to admissions committees.
Foundation stands out as a trusted partner in this journey. Their seasoned consultants provide invaluable guidance on selecting rigorous coursework, participating in enriching summer programs, and engaging in impactful extracurricular activities. Their holistic approach ensures students receive tailored support throughout their academic endeavors.
Beyond academics, I advocate for nurturing a child’s “underlying logic” — their innate drive and values — over fixating on academic rankings and achievements. Encouraging children to explore their passions and develop as individuals fosters long-term fulfillment and resilience. I believe that children from economically stable families, like those born in the 2000s and 2010s, should pursue their ideals and personal growth rather than solely focusing on academic competition, unlike previous generations constrained by survival pressures.
In essence, fostering an environment where children can authentically thrive and explore their potential is paramount. Understanding and supporting their unique paths to happiness and success empowers them to navigate life with confidence and purpose. This philosophy underpins my daughter’s journey and my approach to family education, advocating for authenticity and personal growth above all.
