Daniel Szeto

Director

Since founding Foundation in 2001, Daniel Szeto has been directing the organization’s admissions efforts to over 1,000 top schools in 20+ countries and has been orchestrating 400-500 school visits in North America and Europe each year, speaking to teachers, parents, and students. Over the last 20 years, Daniel has provided support and guidance to over 1,000 students and their families to help guide them on the educational paths that best suit the unique qualities of every student.

Born in Hong Kong, Daniel was educated at The Webb Schools, an independent boarding school in California, before completing his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering at Cornell. Daniel returned to Asia and spent 10 years working on strategy formulation, business development, and operations management work in management consulting and financial services before realising his calling in education. When starting his own family, he dreamed of a place that he could go where a team would guide his children every step of the way on their path to a bright and successful future.

Rae Kuang

Associate Director

Rae Kuang has rich career experience in education consultancy and admissions. She attended University of California, Berkeley where she received her degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. While at UC Berkeley, she began working within the engineering graduate admissions program, which contributed greatly to her becoming an education consultant upon her return to Asia. She hopes to give adequate schooling guidance for Asian families, in order to help expand their horizons with an overseas education. With her leadership role at Foundation, she has developed a team of professional team passionate towards education with the dedication to help develop every student into the best candidate for their dream school. Her 10 years of experience in the industry has brought Rae to visit over 200 campuses across the US, UK, and Switzerland. With her comprehensive understanding of Western education systems and boarding schools, she promises personalised guidance for every student in order to help them reach new heights in their schooling career.

Rae Kuang has rich career experience in education consultancy and admissions. Associate Director and Head of Student Counseling

Ashmita has an unparalleled passion for education. The opportunity to teach and nurture young minds drives her work. She has a wide array of experience in building impactful programs with a child's best interests at heart. She works with a talented team to create engaging curriculum using creativity as a the platform to build confidence and communication skills. Her warm and approachable smile is why everyone seeks her opinion and count on her for great advice. When not working you will most likely find her playing the guitar or performing theatre.

Zion Tam

Head of Boarding School Counseling

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Zion pursued his studies in Sydney, Australia attending Macquarie University in Sydney, studying French. After graduation, he pursued further cultural and language exchange at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, after which he traveled extensively across Europe and stayed with local families in France, Austria and Switzerland.

Zion considers watching the students he works with grow as the most rewarding part of the admissions process. Every student is unique with their background and profile, and Zion works tirelessly to find the best schools for each child as well as champion and advocate for them at those schools. With this being his eighth year at Foundation and with over 100 schools visited, he has helped almost over a hundred students find the best fit for students attending schools in the U.K., Switzerland, the U.S as well as locally in Hong Kong. Sandy Leung

Head of School Relations and Senior Overseas Education Counselor

Sandy obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a major in Translation and a minor in German and Spanish Studies. She studied English and Linguistics at the University of Aberdeen in the UK. Sandy has a keen knowledge of the barriers for language learners and the difficulties in coping in a new and foreign culture. Her expertise is often deployed to help schools who visit us in Hong Kong, bridging the gap between schools, students and parents. And with her previous expertise designing English-learning programs for UNICEF and Oxfam, and teaching conversational English for schools in Hunan, Xian and Yunnan provinces in Mainland China, she has a unique understanding of what students and parents needs are. When she’s not at her computer or leading her team, you will most likely find her reading, photographing and travelling.

Iris Lau

Assistant Head of Boarding School Counseling

Iris was born in Australia but relocated to Hong Kong for 14 years, where she attended Maryknoll Convent School, a local girls’ school in HK. She then moved back to Australia and attended Pymble Ladies’ College, a top girls’ boarding school in Sydney. She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) Degree from the University of New South Wales with a double major in Finance and Financial Economics. From her previous educational experience, Iris understands the differences between the eastern and western cultures and education systems. She enjoys sharing her studying abroad experience with families and students to help them fully understand the gap between the two.

Iris has over 10 years of experience in working with students in primary and high school. She particularly enjoys working with younger students to help them to explore their interests by guiding them through individualized passion projects. Iris has visited over 80 boarding schools in US, UK, Switzerland and Canada during her past 7 years in Foundation. She has successfully placed students in top boarding schools including. Iris enjoys spending her time teaching ballet when she is not at work, with the youngest student being 2.5 years old.

At the age of 14, Hua moved to Wisconsin, United States from China with her family. In her 13 years living in Wisconsin, Hua had completed her high school education and earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin - Madison as well as her master’s degree in Human Resources Management.
After working in a research center for two years, Hua moved back to Beijing, China and began her career as an education consultant. She greatly enjoys the broad scope of working with students on developing personalized counseling plans and mentoring students on independent research and initiating community service projects. In addition, she has been invited to judge multiple NSDA Beijing tournaments and lead a group of high school students to the Harvard Debate Camp. These experiences have enriched her insights as an education practitioner. Hua’s students are alumni and current students in world renowned universities, including Yale University, Johns Hopkins University, Brown University, Emory University, University of California - Berkeley, etc.
